LESSON 1 (approx. 2 hours) 1) Meet the Horses 2) Body Colors of Horses 3) Face and Leg Markings 4) Parts of the Horse and hoof 5) Horse Behavior and body language 6) Senses Homework: Horse Colors, Markings, Parts of the Horse & Hoof, Body Language, and Sensess LESSON 2 (2 hours) 1) Review Colors, Markings, Parts of the Horse & Hoof, Body Language, and Senses 2) Grooming 3) How to safely lead a horse Homework: Grooming LESSON 3 (2 hours) 1) Review grooming 2) Continue groundwork techniques (leading/grooming) 3) Measure the height and weight of your horse Homework: Measuring Horse Height and Weight LESSON 4 (2 hours) 1) Equine nutrition (get AM and PM feed ready) 2) Muck a stall 3) Continue groundwork techniques (leading/grooming) 4) Learn how to tack a horse. Homework: Names and Functions of English Tack LESSON 5 (2 hours) 1) Review names and functions of English tack 2) Groom and tack your horse 3) Take a ride! 4) Untack and return your horse to the pasture or stall |
